Which Samsung phones have eSIM? Galaxy models and region check

Many Samsung Galaxy S and Z models support eSIM. In the more affordable Galaxy A series, this applies only to selected models and regions. Always check the full model name and model number, not only Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, or Galaxy A.

Samsung Galaxy S models with eSIM

Samsung lists these Galaxy S models in its Dutch compatibility overview:

• Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra;
• Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge;
• Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra;
• Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra;
• Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra;
• Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra;
• Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.

The series name alone can be too broad. For example, Samsung does not list the S20 FE in this current Dutch overview. Check an FE model in the separate section below and in the device menu.

Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip with eSIM

The foldable Galaxy models have broad eSIM support. The official list includes:

• Galaxy Z TriFold;
• Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE;
• Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6;
• Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5;
• Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4;
• Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3;
• Galaxy Z Fold2;
• Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the first Galaxy Z Flip;
• Galaxy Fold.

Even within these families, the country of sale and carrier version can make a difference. On an imported device, look up the number beginning with SM-.

Galaxy Note, FE, and A models with eSIM

The European Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra also have an eSIM option. Samsung Netherlands confirms this in its 5G questions about the Note20. Check the model number again on an imported device.

For the FE series, Samsung lists the Galaxy S25 FE, S24 FE, and S23 FE. In the A series, the Galaxy A56, A36, A55, A35, and A54 appear in the current overview.

Samsung states explicit regional restrictions for the A36, A35, and A54. European versions are included, but a device from another market may differ. Do not automatically assume that less expensive or older A models omitted from the list support eSIM.

The current overview is available under Galaxy eSIM and supported devices. Samsung warns there that eSIM may be absent depending on the country of origin, even when the model name is identical.

Check it yourself on a Samsung

Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If you see Add eSIM, this version supports downloading an eSIM profile.

Also check the following:

1. Open Settings > About phone.
2. Note the model name and full model number.
3. Look for an EID under the status information.
4. Check that the phone is carrier-unlocked.

An EID is the identification number of the eSIM chip. If both the EID and Add eSIM are missing, do not order a travel profile yet. A system update cannot make a hardware version without eSIM compatible.

Region and model number make a difference

Samsung sells the same commercial model name with different model codes. A European Galaxy may have eSIM while a version for another market supports only two physical SIM cards.

Pay particular attention to a device that was:

• purchased outside the European Economic Area;
• supplied by a foreign carrier;
• refurbished without information about the country of origin;
• sold as Dual SIM without explicitly mentioning eSIM.

Dual SIM does not automatically mean eSIM. It can also refer to two physical nano-SIM cards.

Combine a regular SIM and travel eSIM

On many compatible Galaxy models, you can keep the physical SIM for your own number and use the eSIM for mobile data. Open SIM manager and deliberately choose which line handles calls, messages, and mobile data.

Enable roaming on the HolySim line if the plan requires it. Keep mobile data and roaming disabled on your regular line when your carrier does not cover the destination. Configure each Dual SIM function deliberately to prevent unintended charges.

Add an eSIM on Galaxy

On a compatible device, installation starts under Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM. You can then scan a QR code or use manual activation details.
