How to install an eSIM on Samsung Galaxy: QR code, SIM manager, and roaming

On a compatible Samsung Galaxy, add an eSIM through Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR code. Then select the new line for mobile data and only enable data roaming on the travel eSIM.

HolySim advice: menu names can differ slightly between One UI versions. Search for SIM manager in Settings if you cannot find the path immediately.

Check first

Not every Galaxy model or regional version supports eSIM. Check the exact model number under Settings > About phone and compare it with the HolySim device checker. A nearly identical model name is no guarantee.

You also need:

• stable Wi-Fi or another working internet connection;
• the original QR code or manual activation code;
• up-to-date device software;
• an unlocked device when using multiple carriers.

Samsung maintains current information about Galaxy eSIM and supported network carriers. Availability still depends on the model, region, and software.

Install using the QR code

Open the code on a second screen. Prefer the original order email over a compressed image from a messaging app.

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Connections.
3. Open SIM manager.
4. Choose Add eSIM.
5. Tap Scan QR code.
6. Keep the entire code inside the frame.
7. Confirm with Add or Download.
8. Wait for the new mobile plan to appear in SIM manager.

Do not tap Add repeatedly if progress appears to pause. First check whether the eSIM is already in the list. A code may be considered used after the first successful download.

Install manually

If you received an activation code, open Add eSIM > Scan QR code > Enter activation code. Copy the supplied code exactly. Some plans provide an SM-DP+ address and a separate code, while others use one combined input string.

If you cannot see the manual-entry option, update One UI and check the instructions included with your order. Do not create your own code from the order number.

Select the eSIM for mobile data

Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager again. Give the lines recognizable names, such as Personal number and HolySim travel. Under Preferred SIMs or Primary SIM, select the HolySim line for mobile data.

Leave your regular SIM selected for calls and SMS if the travel eSIM only includes data. Turn off automatic data switching if you do not want Samsung to fall back to your regular SIM when coverage is weak. The name of this setting differs by model.

Turn on data roaming

Travel eSIMs often use a partner network. Open Settings > Connections > Mobile networks and enable Data roaming. If your Samsung lets you manage roaming per SIM, make sure you are changing the travel eSIM.

On some Galaxy versions, the roaming switch applies to the SIM currently selected as the data line. Select HolySim for mobile data first, then check roaming. Leave roaming off on your regular plan unless your carrier confirms that international use is included.

Test the connection

Turn off Wi-Fi and open a website. Check whether 4G, LTE, or 5G appears in the status bar. In SIM manager, confirm once more that the eSIM is enabled and selected as the data line.

If scanning fails, check the QR code for damage and confirm that it has not already been used. If the eSIM was added but there is no internet, check the active data line, roaming, APN, and destination coverage. Do not delete the profile during these checks.
