Curaçao is outside the EU roaming allowance of your Dutch subscription. If you land without preparing, you pay unbundled roaming rates or lose internet access when the spending cap is reached. A data-only eSIM solves that: install it at home, pay with iDEAL, and get mobile internet as soon as you land at Hato.
HolySim advice: choose 3 to 5 GB for two weeks in Curaçao. Select more if you stream or make video calls frequently, or use a hotspot for navigation in your rental car.
Within Europe, you barely notice roaming, but Curaçao is not part of that zone. Many Dutch subscriptions charge unbundled rates per MB or expensive daily packages outside the EU and block data once the standard spending cap of about 50 euros is reached. This can happen precisely when you are looking for your rental car or want to message your hotel.
A prepaid eSIM has a fixed price in advance. You know before departure what internet in Curaçao will cost, and there can be no unexpected extra charge afterward.
Curaçao has two major mobile networks, Digicel and Flow. A travel eSIM works through a partner network; the package specifications show which network your plan uses.
4G coverage is good in Willemstad, the beach towns, and along the main roads. On remote beaches in the west, around Westpunt, and in Christoffel Park, the signal may be weaker. Download your route and reservations in advance so you do not have to search without reception on a deserted beach.
A prepaid data plan for Curaçao costs a fraction of unbundled roaming rates. You select a plan based on gigabytes and validity; current prices are listed with the eSIM plans for Curaçao.
Compared with a local SIM from Digicel or Flow, the trade-off is this: a local SIM may be economical per GB, but you only arrange it after arrival in a shop, often with registration. An eSIM is ready before your flight, while your Dutch number remains available for calls and texts.
For maps, WhatsApp, social media, and occasional searches, 3 to 5 GB is more than enough for two weeks. If you stream daily, work while traveling, or share internet through a hotspot, choose 10 GB or more.

If you island-hop through the ABC islands, check the country list for each plan. A Curaçao plan generally covers Curaçao only; for Aruba and Bonaire, choose a separate plan for each island. This means you pay only for the days you are actually there.
Install plans for the next island at home too. At the airport, you then only need to enable the correct data line.
Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi and give it a recognizable name, such as Curaçao data. Save the instructions offline. After landing at Hato, enable mobile data on the eSIM with data roaming switched on for that profile; keep data roaming disabled on your regular SIM.

Digicel and Flow are the two major mobile networks in Curaçao; the package specifications state which network your plan uses. The data estimates are HolySim guidelines for maps, messaging, social media, and hotspot use. Reception on remote beaches and in nature areas remains location-dependent. The best choice depends on the length of your stay and data usage. For most one- to two-week holidays, a prepaid plan with 3 to 5 GB and island-wide coverage is the practical choice.
Curaçao is outside the EU roaming zone, so your regular allowance does not apply. You pay unbundled international rates or use a separate daily package from your provider; compare that in advance with the fixed price of an eSIM.
Only if those islands are included in your plan's country list. Otherwise, select a separate plan for each island.
No, that is unnecessary for a holiday. You arrange an eSIM at home, and it works immediately after landing without a shop visit or registration.
Most data plans allow this, which is useful for navigation in your rental car or for a laptop. Check the package specifications and allow for additional data usage.
Yes. The eSIM provides data only; WhatsApp remains linked to your existing number, and your regular SIM stays reachable for calls and texts.
