Which Xiaomi phones support eSIM? Models, HyperOS, and checks

Xiaomi supports eSIM on selected models, including European versions of the Xiaomi 12T series, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 14T series, Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15T Pro. The Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO brand name alone tells you nothing about eSIM. Always check the product specifications for the exact model and sales region.

Compare every Xiaomi version by its exact model number and regional specifications before purchasing an eSIM.

Xiaomi models with confirmed eSIM support

These examples appear in official Xiaomi product and support pages:

• Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro;
• Xiaomi 13T Pro;
• Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro;
• Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra;
• Xiaomi 15T Pro.

Xiaomi calls the 12T series its first range with eSIM. That does not mean every Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO device released later automatically has the feature. According to the Dutch product specifications, the Xiaomi 15 supports nano-SIM plus eSIM and also two eSIMs as a possible combination.

Redmi and POCO are not automatically compatible

Xiaomi sells phones under several names. A Redmi Note or POCO with 5G may still support only physical SIM cards. 5G, Dual SIM, and eSIM are three different features.

Do not buy based on a general store filter. Open the official specifications and look under Network & connectivity for a combination that explicitly includes eSIM.

Check in MIUI or HyperOS yourself

On a compatible Xiaomi device, you can usually find the feature as follows:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap SIM cards & mobile networks or Mobile networks.
3. Turn on Use eSIM or Enable eSIM.
4. Open Manage eSIM or Manage SIM.
5. Check whether Add eSIM is available.

Xiaomi describes the same path in its Dutch instructions for activating eSIM. Menu names may differ slightly after a HyperOS update or because of translation.

Also look for an EID in the device or SIM information. An EID confirms that the version has eSIM hardware. If both the EID and eSIM menu are missing, the device is probably not compatible.

SIM 2 may be disabled

On some Xiaomi models, eSIM takes the place of the second physical SIM. When you turn on Use eSIM, SIM 2 may be disabled. Xiaomi describes this behavior in its support documentation.

Other models, including the Xiaomi 15, 15 Ultra, 14T, and 14T Pro, have more flexible configurations. Xiaomi says these models can manage eSIM in two slots. The number of stored profiles and the number of simultaneously active lines are not the same.

Check which combination you need:

• regular nano-SIM plus HolySim eSIM;
• two physical SIM cards;
• two eSIMs;
• one active eSIM with other profiles only stored.

Sales region and carrier

Xiaomi warns that availability varies by country, region, and carrier. An imported phone can have the same name but show a different SIM configuration.

Check especially carefully when you have:

• a device from China or another non-European market;
• a refurbished model with no origin information;
• a carrier version with a SIM lock;
• a phone for which the store only lists Dual SIM.

The model name under About phone and the official regional product specifications take precedence over a generic compatibility list.

Use HolySim on Xiaomi

On a compatible, unlocked device, add HolySim through the eSIM menu and scan the QR code over stable Wi-Fi. Give the profile a recognizable label and select it as the mobile-data line.

Enable roaming on the HolySim line when the plan requires it. Leave roaming off on your regular SIM if you do not want data use through your home carrier. When keeping two lines active, verify separately which one handles calls, messages, and data.

If Add eSIM is missing

First check the model number, sales region, and available system updates. Then restart the phone. If the option remains missing, contact Xiaomi or the seller before purchasing a profile.

Do not install custom firmware to force a hidden eSIM menu. The hardware, regional certification, and secure profile storage must all be present.
